Dromana Estate
Winemaker: Duncan Buchanan
The Range
For over a quarter of a century Dromana Estate has been a benchmark for wines from the Mornington Peninsula. With production limited to ensure quality, the wines in this flagship range are crafted by winemaker Duncan Duchanan to provide exceptional expressions of both regional and varietal characteristics. The Dromana Estate range has been consistently lauded as some of Australia's finest examples of classic, cool climate Burgundian varieties, producing wines of finesse and distinction.
The Region
The cool maritime climate of the Mornington Peninsula, an hour’s drive from Melbourne with its long, slow ripening season is ideal for producing award wining wines and the classic cool climate varieties. Dromana Estate was first established here in 1982 and is one of the oldest wineries on the Mornington Peninsula. From its inception it was one of the driving forces in the development of the Mornington Peninsula as a premium cool climate wine region which now boasts over 175 small scale vineyards.
Mornington EstateWinemaker: Duncan Buchanan The Range The Mornington Estate range of wines are fresh and vibrant with distinctive varietal and regional characteristics. This range of wines is crafted to showcase a broader range of varieites that excel on the Mornington Peninsula - Pinot Gris, Shiraz Viognier, Sauvignon Blanc and of course, the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The RegionLocated an hour's drive south of Melbourne the Mornington Peninsula is surrounded on three sides by water - Port Phillip Bay, Westernport Bay and Bass Strait. The resulting maritime climate combined with a prolonged gentle ripening period culminates in the perfect environment to craft the Mornington Estate range of elegant wines.
'i' RangeWinemaker: Duncan Buchanan The Range For over 15 years our ‘i’ range has been synonymous with innovation and experimentation of Italian varietals. After spending several vintages working in Northern Italy, Winemaker Duncan Buchanan draws on his passion for all things Italian. These wines are passionately crafted to provide the best expression of Italian vines in Australian soils. Versatile and distinctive, the "i" range; arneis, pinot grigio, rosato, sangiovese and nebbiolo have been created as the perfect accompaniment to a wide range of foods.
David Traeger WinesDavid Traeger wines was established at Nagambie Lakes in central Victoria in 1978, deliberately concentrating on the two varieties of Shiraz and Verdelho. The winemaking aim is to produce elegant and distinctive wines made with traditional methods exhibiting the characteristics of the region. The styles are approachable upon release but reward patient cellaring. The RegionNagambie Lakes is a sub-region of the Goulburn Valley, located in the south along the Goulburn River. The soils formed on the banks of the Goulburn River are red brown, clay loams of moderate fertility with ridges of red sandy loams thrown up by the river system and more ironstone deposits located to the west. Here some classic European varieties have found their own niche such as Syrah (Shiraz) originally sourced from France's Rhone Valley and Verdelho from Portugal.
