Established in 1982, Dromana Estate was instrumental in forging the Mornington Peninsula’s reputation as one of Australia’s leading wine regions.
Over it’s 30 year history Dromana Estate has gone through many changes and it is now privately owned by Weeping Elm Wines Pty Ltd. Based at the Historic Tuerong Homestead with over 60 acres under vine, this Mornington Peninsula stalwart continues to produce well awarded and reviewed, premium quality wines.
Our winery has three labels Tuerong Park, Dromana Estate & Mornington Estate. All our labels are estate grown wines representing the highest standards of viticulture, ensuring quality wine goes into every bottle. We believe our wines are an expression of the fruit we have grown here at the Estate.
Our Chief Winemaker Peter Bauer, has brought his vast experience to Dromana Estate over the last 10 years . We have benefited from his wealth of knowledge and innovative winemaking skills. Peter meticulously crafts the ever popular Mornington Peninsula varietals such as Chardonnay & Pinot Noir, along with varietals lesser associated with our maritime environment.
Simply put, the mission statement and philosophy of Dromana Estate is to allow the wines to reflect, as well as they can, the time and place in which they were created. To expand on this, it is our belief that all wines are initially created in the vineyard and to best reflect this, we use a minimal interference policy. To achieve this, indigenous yeast is predominantly used and there is minimal use of additives such as sulphur, tartaric acid and various fining agents. Most of our red wines are not filtered prior to bottling and we hope that through these measures our wines achieve that sense of time and place or terroir to use the French term.
