GERWURZTRAMINER

History

The Mornington Estate range was created to display the varietal diversity of the Peninsula.

Treasured for its intense floral aromas, Gewürztraminer originated from Germany but slowly over time has moved to the Foothills of the Alps. This wine style is becoming increasingly popular in Australia, so much so we have shortened the name to Traminer. Typically Gewürztraminer best enjoyed in their youth to preserve acidity.

Wine Making

The fruit for this wine was foot stomped by the ladies on the cellar door, don’t worry they washed them first! It was then quickly transferred in to old French Oak barrels 24 hours later- Perfect to drink now

Taste Profile

Aromas of Rose petal & lychee, hints of melon, pear and tropical fruits to the taste

Food Pairing

The sweet floral aromatics and ginger-like spice partner well with Duck, Chicken, Pork and more broadly Indian and Moroccan Cuisine. We’ve also heard it works wonders with pizza too!
